Where is The Docent’s Collection located?

Our collection of Urban Homes is located on Middle Street within the historic Old Port neighborhood of Portland, Maine. Please refer to the Urban Home descriptions while booking, as well as the text compendium you receive after booking, for the specific address of your Urban Home.

Is parking available?

Our historic buildings were built in the late 1800s and have limited on-site parking.  You may add convenient on-site parking after booking your stay by completing the pre-arrival registration.

On-site parking: $50 per night

** Please note that due to nearby construction, on-property parking is not available beginning 02/25/2024 through 06/30/2024 **

You may also choose to utilize the metered street parking spaces upon your arrival and departure for ease unloading and loading your belongings.

How do I check-in to my Urban Home?

Check-in using with your mobile device or choose to engage our knowledgeable concierge team to guide exploration both within and outside your Urban Home.

To access your Urban Home, download the FLEXIPASS app to your mobile device.

A text message with your personal FLEXIPASS code will be sent as soon as our team has finished detailing and inspecting your Urban Home for arrival.

Guests will gain access to their Urban Home by 5 pm on the first day of their stay, although earlier access may be available upon request.

Does each Urban Home have WIFI and streaming services?

Yes. Simply open your WiFi settings and connect to the network named “The Docent’s Collection”. Accept the terms & conditions in your favorite browser and your device will be ready to access the internet.

Use your favorite streaming service directly from your device. Just follow the on-screen instructions on Channel 57 to connect, then cast from your favorite apps to any TV in your Urban Home.

Does each Urban Home include a full kitchen?

Yes. Each kitchen features modern appliances, cookware, cutlery and more, to enable the enjoyment of local Portland ingredients. Suggestions include:

Source local ingredients from nearby markets such as Micucci Grocery Store or the Portland Co-Op.

Blend up fresh fruits and vegetable from the Portland Farmers Market with the NutriBullet ®.

Brew a hot cup of coffee in the French press with freshly-ground beans from local roasters like Coffee by Design. Your Urban Home is stocked with sample packs for you to try.

Head next door to Cellardoor for a selection of Maine wine to enjoy. Open with a readily available corkscrew.

Please note: Each Urban Home is equipped with induction burners for your safety. The pots and pans must match the burner size to work properly. 

What amenities are included in the bathrooms?

Most bathrooms feature:

A standing shower with glass doors

Fresh soft laundered towels & robes provided upon your arrival

Bath soap, shampoo, and conditioner and paper products

Hair dryers, iron, and ironing boards

What cleaning services are provided?

Each Urban Home is fully cleaned and sanitized prior to your arrival and following your departure to prepare for the next arriving guest. Basic cleaning supplies, including dishwasher tablets, soaps and towels are provided to utilize during your stay. Additionally:

You may request a light cleaning of your Urban Home any time throughout your stay.

If you are staying more than seven nights, we are happy to arrange a suitable cadence for cleaning of your Urban Home, free of charge.

Are there other policies should I be aware of?

To ensure all guests have a positive experience, we ask that you please review our Code of Conduct before your arrival.

What should I do before I depart?

Departure time is 11 am on the final day of your stay. Please:

  • Check to ensure all your belongings & gifts are packed.
  • Tidy up your living areas by placing any trash in the appropriate trash receptacles in the kitchen.
  • Place all your dirty towels on the floor.
  • Load the dishwasher with any used dirty dishes, no need to start the cycle.
  • Post your collection of favorite photos on Instagram and tag us @thedocentscollection
  • While not mandatory, a gratuity for our incredible housekeeping team is always appreciated.
